Well, I am happy to report that I stuck to my exercise plan and I did pretty good with my food choices. For breakfast I ate raisin bran cereal. Two hours later, I had some cherries.
I met my friend for lunch, and I had the salmon nicoise salad and 1 1/2 buns. They were just too good! For dinner I had a mango smoothie. I was not that hungry. I had coffee, passion fruit ice tea, orange juice, and milk to drink…so far. I had a BITE of that stupid cheesecake I see every time I open the frig! I just can’t throw it away! I will get yelled at by my family! YIKES! I am still going to go eat, but I just do not know what! I hope you all had an OK day with your eating plans. It is fine to go off, every now and then, but…get right back on track! It is important to not hate yourself for eating something that you may not have thought was a good choice. Just get past it, and get focused again. You notice I was able to resist and only have a bite of that cheesecake? You may have noticed that I had more of that yummy bread than I should have….but, that is OK…There is always tomorrow!

My friend, ERIC at Soupalaxy is on a mission, just like I am. We are both motivated to exercise and lose some weight. If you go to Eric’s blog, you can see how he is motivating himself to get in shape before his baby is born! It is pretty clever. Now, I am also trying to lose the last ten pounds I have been trying to lose…for the last ten years! I am on a 6 week exercise program, Monday thru Thursday….with weight training and cardio. So far, it has only been 2 days…but, I have taken off the 4 pounds I since gained! I have increased my water intake and I have cut back on eating bread and sweets. I try to eat more protein and enjoy lots of yogurts, cottage cheese, or pineapple salsa. I am staying away from fast foods, unless I have to….and I am eating what I want, but less. I have been on a life changing path when it comes to my diet and exercise, for the last 20+ years. I believe it has to be a combination of diet and exercise. I also believe you need to have a healthy mental outlook on life, which I do! So, Eric and I will keep you posted on our good days and our bad days, too! Anyone else want to share what you might be doing? I know that JOAN at Whatever I Think… has some greast advice, too! Go see how she is doing it!

Are you like a CA Raisin?????…….

I was reading in the Jan/Feb 2009 Weight Watchers magazine, the way of the California raisin. They claim that ” The balance of mind and body starts with the balance of diet.” Then they go on to list the nutritional values of the California raisin. I happen to agree, so I eat them myself. What I wanted to talk about is the fact that I agree with their claim 100%. When I first starting blogging, I was an author on Healthtips101.wordpress.com. My friend Jennifer talks about health issues on Healthtips101. I was hitting on the mental health side. I believe that your food diet affects your mind 100%! I think that the healthier your food choices are, the healthier you feel about life in general, and you are motivated to do more. I notice that if I get lazy with my diet, and start throwing in too many of those cookies I love, I start feeling angry at myself and then get bummed out in general. It takes me a few days to get back on track. So, I guess what I am trying to say is, watch what you eat. Make good choices from all of the food groups. Exercise, even if you just walk every other day, and get enough sleep. I decided over 10 years ago, that I would do this. So far, I have been able to keep my weight controlled where I am ok with it. Do you have any suggestions that might be helpful to whoever might read this post? Much appreciated.

Time to Get Out those “FAT” Jeans….ugh-)*

Well, it happened. I was getting dressed this morning and had to scream in the process. It took me a few minutes to gain my composure, but I managed. I went to put on my “favorite” pair of jeans, and THEY DIDN’T FIT right! They were more snug, than usual! Then I did the blaming thing. I blamed it on the fact that I left them in the dryer too long. Yeh, right! Then I tried the water logged excuse! That did not fly either! So, I just sat there for a second remembering. I was remembering that day, not too long ago, when I was trying to decide if I should give away some of the “older” clothes in my closet I did not wear anymore. I did not wear them anymore because I had LOST weight, and they were too big. Well, needless to say…I am glad I held on to my “FAT” jeans. It is that time of year when they come in handy, huh? Lucky for me, I had a few to chose from! Ha Ha Ha So, I put them on and forced myself to smile over it, even though I wanted to let out one of my famous screams again! ( check it out on My Crazy Videos page). I also made a decision then. I decided I was not going to spoil this holiday by getting depressed or angry. I was going to remain calm, decide to keep eating what I wanted for the holidays, and then after the holidays…do what I always do and GO ON ANOTHER DIET! I can not ignore the fact that this seems to be the way it has been for MANY years! So, I just laughed about it and I will figure it all out LATER!

Your Holiday Mission: Gain 7 pounds…AGAIN!…ugh…Do you accept?

I can’t take it! Not again! Does this system ever fail? Can I ever win? Must I always be the loser? I am so TIRED of hearing from people that it is the time of year we are EXPECTED to gain 7 pounds, more or less! How does my body know when it is a holiday? Does it pick up signals from outer space from some demented alien who thinks it’s funny to see me get fatter? I work so hard at resisting temptation, and then I have that weak moment where i say, ” OH, what the h*ll, might as well!” So, I figured out a few things that may help me NEXT year. I realized we always make “special” recipes on “special occassions” only. Of course, we are going to keep looking at that fudge until we eat a few pieces, right? We are not going to resist grandma’s fresh made pumpkin pie, are we? NO WAY! So, I have a solution for NEXT year. I plan on baking all those “special” recipes WHENEVER I happen to want them. I am NOT waiting until the holidays anymore. I figure my brain will be happy to know it can eat those foods ANYTIME, so it will not be craving them! I mean, think about it. When we know we can have something in life, we decide we do not want it anymore. Once it is attainable, the challenge is gone! I believe this plan will work. Do you? Do you accept this mission?
