December 2016

Thank you to all of you who stop by and visit my blog.I have had some challenges to face this December 2016.

My Mom has now suffered a stroke. Her recovery is still in question. Her vitals are all good and she is not in any pain. She can not talk anymore. She is not too responsive. I am lucky to have many friends and family members praying for her. Only time will tell. We will all be doing what we can do.

I wanted to write a poem, my style. I feel it really helps me emotionally. Thank you again for your visit. May you have a blessed holiday season full of many smiles.

Whatever happens to you in this life is not meant to harm you
Instead, we must absorb the lesson it is meant to teach.
When we feel we can no longer take what is happening to us and we just want to escape,
Instead we must meditate and listen to what it is meant to teach.
When we cloud our judgement with things of no relevance and inflict unnecessary harm to our well being,
Instead, we should be coming to terms with the lesson being taught us.

Believe.
Trust.

Listen.
Conquer

Realize and be thankful for all of your blessings.

Leo Buscaglia quotes……

Felice Leonardo “Leo” Buscaglia PhD (March 31, 1924 – June 12, 1998), also known as “Dr. Love,” was an American author and motivational speaker, and a professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Southern California.[1][2]

caring

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

learning

“Change is the end result of all true learning. Change involves three things: First, a dissatisfaction with self – a felt void or need; second, a decision to change to fill the void or need; and third, a conscious dedication to the process of growth and change – the willful act of making the change, doing something.”

right choices

“I have a very strong feeling that the opposite of love is not hate – it’s apathy.”

love

“Perfect love is rare indeed – for to be a lover will require that you continually have the subtlety of the very wise, the flexibility of the child, the sensitivity of the artist, the understanding of the philosopher, the acceptance of the saint, the tolerance of the scholar and the fortitude of the certain.”

courtesy

“It’s not enough to have lived. We should be determined to live for something. May I suggest that it be creating joy for others, sharing what we have for the betterment of personkind, bringing hope to the lost and love to the lonely.”

vision

“Love yourself, accept yourself, forgive yourself, and be good to yourself, because without you the rest of us are without a source of many wonderful things.”

perseverance

“There are two big forces at work, external and internal. We have very little control over external forces such as tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, disasters, illness and pain. What really matters is the internal force. How do I respond to those disasters? Over that I have complete control.”

kindness

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.”

I enjoy his work. Hope you do too. Have fun!

Quotes for the week*

Many of the things you can count, don’t count. Many of the things you can’t count, really count.
Albert Einstein

I was in one of those moods where I needed some Einstein wisdom and inspiration. Geez, I would have loved to meet this guy and talk to him for hours on end. Hope you have an inspirational week.

I’M SICK OF IT…..a series of thoughts/questions I have …..4/12/12

This next thought relates to all of you. When it comes to men and women understanding one another, you have to admit that things do get weird at times. I am not talking about every aspect of relationships. That would be something I could write a book about. lol I am referring to the way that men and women communicate. Maybe I should have said the way they DO NOT communicate. lol Here is my thought.

Why do men and women speak different languages and have failure in communicating what the heck they are trying to say?

I believe that unless you happen to actually speak different languages, there should not be such a struggle. lol I believe part of the reason is because men tend to “think about” what they are going to say and women just “say it!”I kind of like the “just say it” better. The reason is, I am speaking from the emotions I am feeling at that particular time and the other person should be able to recognize them. (Of course, this is not always the case.) Men who sit there and have that puzzled look on their face because they do not know what to say without the fear of being yelled at, I tend to feel sorry for. A man should be able to express his emotions as well and the other party should be sensitive to them. I always take a breath and smile before I answer my hubby. That helps me to observe. It helps me to respond in a positive way instead of saying things like, :What an a**hole!” lol

There always tends to be an underlying situation brewing in the other person that makes them say and do what they say and do. Be aware of that. Be sensitive of that. Do not just “look” for a reason to get into a fight. Look for a reason to show “love to one another.”

Just Sitting Here Wondering…..my story*

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Just sitting here wondering about things in life. I guess I am in a philosophical mood. Now, do not worry…I am not going to go off and talk about philosophers, just my own look on life here! I often wonder what makes a person even care to do half of the things they do, on a daily basis. I mean, do they just decide to do…and then do it? Or, do they sit there for days and go over in their head the reason why they should do something over why they should not do something? How much energy is floating around out there looking for a place to go? How much does our brain get fried over the constant changes we throw at it? I could go on and on about this subject. What subject, you ask? MOTIVATION of self! You got any secrets you care to share?

********************************

Do you have a problem motivating yourself? Are you good.at motivating others?I have recently run into a lot of people in my life who are struggling with motivation issues. They seem to complain of not having enough time in their day to do what they have to do. When they see all that is piling up, they just can not seem to move ahead and work it out. They claim they are “not motivated.” They look for someone or something to miraculously motivate them. They spend hours searching and searching. Well, my opinion is that they can stop looking around and start looking at themselves. The answer is within all of us. To get motivated, we need to educate ourselves. During the education process, we find answers to questions we did not even know we were seeking. By educate, I mean this. Let’s say you need to figure out “how” to do something efficiently. Well, first figure out the “how” and then move from there. A simple example is, “How do I plan Thanksgiving dinner without it being a disaster?” Well, first off..be realistic, something is always bond to go a little wrong. That is part of the fun of the holidays. First, ask yourself what exactly you mean by “a disaster.” Is it that no one will have fun? Is it that no one will like your food selection? What exactly do you mean? That is the first step. Clear those up and you will be motivated to continue. You can simply put together a menu plan and then share it with your invited guests, and get their reaction. If they say it looks great, stop worrying. As far as being bored goes. What are the ages of your guests? Any lids? Have some age appropriate board games to amuse them. Adults can also play board games or a fun game of charades. Motivate yourself to be creative and educated. You are the only one who can motivate yourself. Others can offer support, but it is all on you. Be thankful this holiday season that you are blessed with many talents. Use them. You’ll be great!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
See you soon!

A day in the life of…….

A very special friend, who is like a sister to me, has recently been told she has multiple sclerosis. She has been to so many doctors and has had so many tests, I admire her courage and strength. For a long time, she admits she was in denial. The sensation that her body is experiencing is only known to her. The pain and anguish she feels, she must endure. She has had to start giving herself injections everyday. She can no longer hide and pretend all is fine with her system. She has taken the responsibility of caring for herself, and she must deal both mentally and physically each day with whatever this disease may bring. She has educated herself to MS and has made the decision to fight and hope one day for a cure. Research in the area of MS has grown, so she feels one day soon she will have great news!

She has also come to understand that her friends and family are with her on this journey in life that she must now go through. She understands that she does not need to do it alone…others love her and are with her! I admire her strength. I admire her courage. I admire her sense of humor! I love my friend! I am not going anywhere. I will always be there for her! Friends to the end!

Footnote taken from Wikepedia……

There is no known cure for MS. Treatments attempt to return function after an attack, prevent new attacks, and prevent disability.[1] MS medications can have adverse effects or be poorly tolerated, and many patients pursue alternative treatments, despite the lack of supporting scientific study. The prognosis is difficult to predict, it depends on the subtype of the disease, the individual patient’s disease characteristics, the initial symptoms and the degree of disability the person experiences as time advances.[7] Life expectancy of patients is nearly the same as that of the unaffected population.[7]

BE A FRIEND TO SOMEONE YOU LOVE….FRIENDSHIP HOLDS AMAZING POWER…….

Why I “smile”…..

I just figured out that I have been really pushing everyone to smile. If you look under blogs about “smile”, I am listed there alot. So, why is it I am pushing you all to smile? Well, I have seen a lot of sadness in this world. I still see it everyday. A Lot of very special people have died. A lot of very special people are always sad. A lot of very special people rather not be here. A lot of very special people ” give up.”

Well, I figure we all have choices in life. I could pick all of the above, or I could pick something else. I could support my ” special people”, but I can choose not to join them! Each of us struggles with our own internal frustrations, that I figure, I do not need someone else giving me theirs!

So, what I do is get the support I need..whatever way that is safe to do so…and I SMILE and move on with life. I figure I only have two choices: Live and let live….or….give up! It is not in my nature to ” give up”, so I pick option A. You can too. You are the only one stopping yourself. Believe in Yourself. Take it one day at a time, You can succeed. There is a lot of support out there in this world. Use it if you need it!
Remember to see the humor in things, it’s there.
Smile…..Smile…..Smile
