Were you ever in a point in your life when you had something you really wanted to say but were just not ready to say it? You figure if you tell someone how you feel about something, they might laugh at you.You figure what would they care anyway. But, you really, really want to tell someone…so, you finally go for it.
The person you picked to tell is finally alone for a minute, so you run over to them to release your demon. The only thing is…they are on chapter 15 and you are on chapter 5! You know what I mean….you start talking and they just look at you and then they start talking,and talking, and talking. They just will not shut up! They just go on and on about something. You do not even know what they are saying because you are just left standing there with your mouth open cause you can not believe they did what they did! You ask yourself, ” Weren’t they listeniing to me!
Well, SORRY…..they were NOT! They had their own agenda. They were not ready to “LISTEN”, they were ready for you to listen.
So, what I do if I really need to get something out and want a friend or family member to listen, I always start the first sentence to them by saying, “Look, I really need to talk to you about something that is bothering me and I would appreciate you listening to me and helping me out here.”
That should get their attention. So, start talking and see where it goes. Hopefully they are REALLY listening to you. If they are not, just look right at them and say, “Later”, and walk away. Find someone else who really cares!!!! Believe in yourself.
