The wedding was a success!

100_3903

I am happy to report that everything went well with my friends wedding. Everyone was happy and smiling! The weather in Palm Springs was 119 degrees! I thought I would faint. I do not know how people can live comfortably in such weather. After a while, you kind of get to where it really does not bother you. Needless to say, I drank a lot of water. The country club did a fantastic job with the catering. The music was getting me to dance and be silly! I was very happy for my friend Pam. I have known her since high school. Her husband Anthony was very nice. It was the first time meeting him. 🙂

Marriage takes a commitment. It takes humor. It takes caring and trust. You should NEVER take your spouse for granted. I wish Pam and Anthony all the best!

Oh, my dress worked out perfectly. The challenge was the wind. My dress was flying all over the place!

Have a great week.

Question for you…..

How would you feel having your adult family members all living…in separate households…on about 20 acres of the same land you live on?

Just staying calm…..

I decided to stay calm and not get stressed out with shopping for gifts. I am having fun just taking my time and looking around. I am not really buying much…yet. I did get a bunch of baskets and cookie tins at Costco. I love having them around to give to my company during the holidays. I also loaded up on coffee and tea. I love the smell of coffee brewing! My dining room is all light up and my Christmas tree is looking good. I love to have the lights on. I can’t wait for it to get dark out! I am really doing my best to ignore people who seem to want to put a damper on things. I always look for the positive in the situation. I am not getting caught up in the anger and hatred some people like to show this time of year. I think I will hang out with those that really appreciate life and the meaning of Christmas. I LOVE Christmas. I LOVE having people over and seeing them laugh and smile. That is the best present they can give me. I hope you all do your best to see the nice side of people. Try to ignore the other side, especially around the holidays. Oh well, just thinking out loud. Thanks for visiting. Have many smiles this week.

Just talking…..

I am just being lazy today. I am exhausted from all of the activities of Thanksgiving. I was not even going to attempt shopping today. Did you?

I am just going to wait this year with gift buying. I have a few ideas, but I am not ready to take the leap. There are so many stores out there with deals, I am sure I will have no problem if I wait. What are you planning to do about shopping for gifts?

I really like to get into the spirit of this time of year. To me, it is a magical time. I wish it stayed the same way all year long, don’t you?

I am blessed to be in good health. I am blessed to have my family at home. I am blessed in many ways that I do not take for granted. Do you feel you need more blessings or do you have enough?

I will be stopping in every now and then. I am sure I will smile when I visit your blogs. Have fun with blogging. Have fun with life. It is meant to be lived.

Let the celebrations begin……Happy Thanksgiving*

It is that wonderful time of the year again. The time I reflect and think about all of the things I am grateful for in this life. I tend to have these moments all year long, but it seems like they mean more at Thanksgiving. I am one of those people that like to go around the dinner table and have everyone share with each other. My family and friends expect these moments, new guests to my home just give me that look. lol I just ask everyone to share one event in their life in 2012 that really made them grateful to be who they may be. I treasure each day I am given, so I would hope others could say the same.

This year my COURAGE to keep moving ahead was tested often. I have had some MINOR health issues that I let get to me this year. Usually I just ignore them. I have had my mom undergoing various little medical treatments that made me think too much about her aging. We all age, right? I have been blessed with my son who moved to Texas moving back home. I needed the courage to get him home safe. He is now already working at another job and is doing well.I have had to balance negative feelings with more positive feelings when I was in the position of helping some friends or family members in a crisis situation. I wanted to remain strong so I could help them succeed. If you look up my name and its definition….it does seem to fit.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luisa is a female name of German origin  which means “glorious warrior”.

So, I hope all of you reading this post have something to be grateful for. May you all enjoy Thanksgiving with your family and friends with many smiles. May you have many cherished memories. I want to leave you all with this beautiful passage I found.

The Giver of Gifts

May the Giver of Gifts give unto you

that which is good and that which is true:

The will to help and the courage to do:

A heart that can sing the whole day through

Whether the skies be gray or blue-

May the Giver of Gifts give these to you.

Celebrating a birthday…my way*

Well, tomorrow is my birthday. September 5th is my special day. I sometimes think I should just skip my birthday, but then I am reminded by family and friends that it is a special day. The day I was introduced to this crazy world of ours. lol I guess I should be happy that others want to share my happiness, right? Well, my family and friends have NO problem with making me feel special. They take me out to eat. They get me so many delicious desserts. They buy me such cute girts. I am honestly touched by all the fuss. I feel so fortunate to have such wonderful people in my life. I treasure the times I spend with them all. Memories are in my heart. I hold on to them and they help me smile when I am in one of those moods. So, I want to say THANK YOU to all of you out there who are making my birthday an extra special day. I understand everyone is busy with things in their lives, so I really so appreciate it. Hope you all have a wonderful life. Stay happy. Stay healthy. Stay in touch. Smile often. Love you all!

Word for life changes….YES!

I am sure that many times in your life you have said to yourself, ” I should of said yes.” I as also sure that there were many times you said, ” I am sure glad I said no.”

Well, I am talking about those times when you know that the situation you are in lead to an answer that required a yes or no, it MIGHT be better to say yes and live the experience. I want to make it perfectly clear that I am NOT referring to anything that is dangerous to your health, either physically or mentally. I am referring to those times when your mom and dad ask if you want to grab a bite to eat with them and you make an excuse to not go because you do not want to be seen with them. I am talking about those times your parents ask you to get dressed nicely and go with them to church and you say you do not feel good because you are not really into it. I am also talking about those times that a friend might need your help with something as simple as helping them cook a meal they are having troublke with, and you say you are not real good at cooking just because you rather just sit there and watch them struggle.

So I say in my opinion, if you say yes more in this life to helping another feel more a little happier…so will you.

If you decide to make a commitment to your local charity and stick to it, they will win and so will you.

If you decide to look at your parents as people and stop labeling them your parents, you will see that they are pretty cool and you will be as well.

If you tell the coach you will do your very best…no excuses, you will be a winner even if you lose the race.

Keep a balance in your life. Say yes when it works.

Mozart?….YES!

Memorial Day… a poem I wrote

This is a poem I wrote last year. I hope you do not mind I posted it again. I want to thank all of you who fight for your country. Without you, there would be no country.

He was a very enthusiastic lad.
Who wanted, so much, to please his dad
He stood for bravery, honor, and pride
But, while doing so..unfortunately died

He left behind the symbol of hope
So while pursuing our dreams, we could cope
He gave us the courage to go on
Even though, from this world he is gone.

Freedom lives because of you
True Americans will NEVER forget all you knew
Fighting for your country was a dedication you accepted with all your heart
I only hope we will be as worthy to do our part.

So, when you look down upon us from above
I hope you can feel all of our love
I hope all Americans feel your pride
I hope they decide to join the right side.

Thank You to ALL who fought for us all.
