Do you believe you can tell how SMART a person is just by LOOKING at them?

  1. THERE IS NO WAY TO TELL THE I.Q. OF A PERSON JUST BY LOOKS ALONE. I WAS ATTRACTED TO MY WIFE BECAUSE OF HER EYE GLASSES THEN I FOUND OUT JUST HOW SMART SHE WAS.

    • Purple Hatter….they say that people who wear glasses are smarter than those who do not!
      🙂
“Bad vision doesn’t mean that you are necessarily smarter. I think this goes to prove the point that many humans link intelligence or non intelligence off of looks. The truth is, those who wear glasses seem smarter because many link intelligence with someone who wears glasses. Sometimes this is true, but other times it is a generalization. You have some of the brightest individuals who don’t wear glasses or have poor vision. Being smart is not dependent on one who wears glasses. It is dependent upon how much the individual knows, and whether or not they can adequately use what they know. All this is, is a generalization that has been around for the longest time. Glasses just give someone the appearance of intelligence. It doesn’t always mean it is true.”

  2. It’s risky to go by looks alone – look at Einstein and the crazy hair!

    • Looks are what people use to judge others.
      “Some people are insecure.

I suspect that many people find that judging others distracts from their own weaknesses.

People view others as they view themselves…this leads to judgement. Don’t worry, their is a mirror on both sides. “

  3. ABSOLUTELY NOT! Never judge a book by it’s cover! 🙂

    • Thanks Gery! Hope all is well!

“The very common English idiom “don’t judge a book by its cover” is a metaphorical phrase which means “don’t determine the worth of something based on its appearance”.[1] It is probably the most common expression used in English to convey vanity.”

  4. No I don’t think so. The old you can’t judge a book by it cover applys here.

  5. THERE IS A SUBJECT CALLED SAMUTHRIKA LAKSHANAM .IF U R THOROUGH WITH IT U CAN TELL THE CHARACTER OF A PERSON BY LOOKING AT PARTS OF A PERSONS FACE LIKE NOSE EYES MOUTH ETC.I HAVE READ A BOOK ON THIS SUBJECT. IT IS VERY INTERESTING .
I SOME TIME SUM UP A PERSON BY LOOKING AT HIM..

  6. AFTER MOUSING MY COMMENTS I DID A SEARCH ON THE SUBJECT IN GOOGLE. THERE WERE SOME INFO ON THIS SUBJECT.

  7. No, no and no. Absolutely not.

  8. Only if I look in the mirror. I know exactly how smart he is … not very … but at least I know. hee hee!

  9. I feel there are certain things you can look at in a person that helps you get a better understanding of them. I look at their shoes. They can be dressed in the most casual clothes, yet have on the most expensive pair of shoes! The shoes tell it all!

  10. Absolutely Not! I don’t think intelligence is necessarily obvious. I’ve known some strange looking people who’s hygeine left a lot to be desired but they had very high IQ’s. I’ve also known some smartly dressed good looking people who are total dumbasses.

I will look at a person’s facial expressions. Sometimes you can get an idea if they are going to be friendly and warm or calculating and cold. But that doesn’t always work either.

It’s also funny how a highly intelligent person can be a total dumbass.

  11. Joan, you are right on about people in this world. At some point, people just give up and hope for the best! When I am out around town, I just stay on alert. It helps me “deal” with the punches better! 🙂
