We use to go metal detecting on the weekends. Those times made for great memories.
Eric, do you still try that out?? We do with our kids. We find amazing things!
he saw to it that we never squabbled after him.— every aspect was taken care of.
lviss, I can see that you dad was a great man! 🙂
My dad broke down and let me keep my new puppy in the house, instead of the barn. Since we were raised on farms, he felt all animals belonged outside. He saw that I really loved my puppy and wanted it with me, so he broke his rule! I am glad he did! 🙂
My dad did so many things that have given me great memories. One memory that comes to mind is the day I put a huge scratch along the side of his brand new “67 Mustang. I had just gotten my license and he let me drive his car. Unfortunately as I was going around a huge truck I didn’t gauge my distance and scratched the the whole length of the car. I called him from a payphone to tell him and instead of getting angry he said ” Don’t worry I have insurance. As long as you’re OK that’s all that counts.” He even let me use the car after that.
What a fantastic dad you had! I am happy you have so many great memories! My dad was a big kidder. I remember lots of fun! I was so devastated over his early dead, at 57!
i remember taking a Kmart portrait with my dad.
i could later remember that the time of it was after the
war was over in Vietnam. we never in all my life had
talks on the type of adult subject matter. but i have that photo.
Mario,,,,so lucky you have that photo!
He really worked hard and overcame a very hard and poor childhood. He achieved great things given his beginnings. Other than that he saw to it that my brother and I spent our entire summer vacations up in Canada on his parents farm so we would know them and that different kind of life.
What a nice memory, Joy.
🙂
WHEN I WAS A TEEN I SAID TO MY DAD, I THINK I HAVE MY GIRLFRIEND FIGURED OUT! HE CALLED ME STUPID FOR EVEN TRYING, THAT IS WHEN I LEARNED THE TRUE MEANING OF THE BIRDS AND THE BEE’S! WHICH IS TAKE WHAT YOU CAN GET TODAY BECAUSE SHE WILL BE DIFFERENT TOMORROW!
It is a wise thing, learning this so young in life! 🙂
I’ve always been very proud of the fact that though he didn’t go to college, he was so well read, that I would always have him proof read my essays – even when I was in college. My work was always better because of him.
Unconditional Love Always. :+)
The best, huh Starla?
