Some states are allowing employees to bring their PETS TO WORK, how would you feel about that?

  1. I would love that. I wouldn’t get any work done but I would love it.

  2. I know I’m gonna look like a grinch on this one, but No!!! I don’t want to be one cubicle away from Fluffy who “usually is so calm, so I don’t know why he just knocked you over”.

Allergies and simple phobias make it hard for some people to be around animals. I enjoy the cute and cuddly factor as much as the next person, but some pet owners don’t respect that everyone doesn’t care to be licked, slobbered on and sniffed by their special “friend”.

I don’t think most conventional work environments are the place for it. But that’s just me.

  3. BTW, I need help with a decision– please help me out friends http://erasundar.wordpress.com/2009/05/28/i-need-your-help/

    Much appreciated, thanks.

  4. What a stupid idea! I can just hear it…

“Yes, I agree, our budget is… Ooh! What a cute doggy! Come here boy! Aww..”

No work done. Pee on floor. Slobber everywhere. And that’s just the employees!

  5. Like kids, they would be a distraction. I love my dogs, but home is where they should be!

  6. I feel if you are at work and have a sick child or, in this case, a sick pet that you would not be at 100% anyway. Why mot allow them to stay next to you? As long as they are quiet, like a child! This is tough! LOL

  7. Well, this has a lot of “it depends” to it. It depends on the type of job you have. If you have your own office I think it would be okay but if you have a “cubby” or work in a plant or share work-space, I’d say no. Some places just aren’t capable to allow pets. I also agree with a lot of what Era said. You have people with allergies and phobia’s. I know I LOVE pets and have 2 dogs and 5 cats but they are mine. I don’t like strange dogs and don’t want their hair all over me or hear them barking or smell them. Then you also have to deal with where they go to the bathroom. Is it somewhere that you have to walk or go to eat your lunch?

Like I said when I started, this has a lot of “it depends.”

    • Joy, you are right on. It does depend on a lot of different things. There are some very good points being brought up here. I believe June 1st is some kind of national “Take your pet to work day.” I could see you writing a post on that one! You can go for it, if you like. 🙂

  8. I guess I have mixed feelings. In one of our small towns here it is not uncommon to go into a business and have a bog sleeping, I actually like to give the dog a pat on the head and continue my business. There is a couple of business I actually look forward to seeing these peoples animals. But if it was an office environment a lot of people have allergies and that’s not really fair. So I’m mixed.

  9. If the business maintains its productivity and creativeness, and it does not affect the limitations of the other employees…I feel some type of structure can be established to allow employees to bring their pet to work. Like Joy commented, “IT DEPENDS” It is possible.

  10. Oh, the same applies to bringing your child to work.

  12. I don’t think I would get much work done if I took Dixie to work but she would love riding around in the ute (pickup) while I was doing deliveries. S’pose I could train her to bark a warning if my head got too close to steel poles

  13. I brought Dennis to work once and he was bored out of his mind …

  14. Luisa I hope everything is fine. I hope your brother is fine and I will keep him in my prayers.
