What statedgy do you find comfortable using when you meet someone new at a social gathering or as a guest in your home?

Well, I try to keep a smile on my face. I try to be very hospitable in my home. I ask general questions and give them a chance to talk, more than I do!
Aunt Kelley, I can honestly say that you are the best with company! 🙂
I try to stay around people who I know and they know me, so no problem here! LOL
Robert, yes…that is always safe! LOL
To listen I did that today at a BBQ I went to this afternoon. I think sometimes I can be talkative and joke around, but today it was nice when I met new people to listen to their stories.
Starla, that is a great way to get to know people! I love to hear the stories, also! I bet you have some fun ones up your sleeve! 🙂
I was always shy growing up and kept to myself. Now I’m into meeting new people and learning new things. I’m pretty straight forward – I smile and introduce myself and then ask questions and listen. When I find common areas of interest I try to share some of my experiences too. I’m still a little shy, but I’m working on it.
In my own home I try to introduce them to my other guests and use the same general principles of conversation.
Ok, what I just wrote sounds so common place, I’m not sure anyone wanted to hear that lol. Oh well, I’m a simple girl 🙂
Era, then I am a simple gal too, cause “ditto” what you said!
I just be myself. I always shake the hands of people I meet and tell them I’m happy to meet them. After that I just be myself.
Gary, I do the same…but, I hold back on the “happy to meet you” until I figure out if I really am happy to meet them! LOL
KEEP MY TRAP SHUT TILL THEY SAY SOMETHING.
Iviss, I do not figure you as the sitting back type! LOL You seem like a very interesting individual, who I would love to talk to!
I’m a pretty friendly person so I just make conversation. I’m not one to go to big events where I don’t know many people though. I’m very shy if I don’t “know” people but when I meet new people, there are many people around I do know so it puts me back in my comfort zone.
Joy, I know what you mean. Sometimes, when I do the bigger events and act…”crazy,” I say to myself, ” I hope I never see them again, how embarrassing!” But, at the time, I have FUN! 🙂
I tend to do a lot of sitting quietly in an out-of-the-way spot. Unless it’s at the studio, of course, in which case I grab them for a cha-cha or something.
Tucker, you do have a sense of humor that keeps me smiling! Thanks!
I usually start talking to the people hovering around the food or drink first, then I expand my horizons.
That is a great starting point, Ross…people are ALWAYS happy around food and drink! lol Have fun smiling this week! 🙂
