How do you think Olympic Gold Medalist, Michael Phelps should have been approached when they discovered he was smoking MARIJUANA? Do you feel it is nothing to be worked up about, or do you feel he messed up bad?

  1. It’s nothing to get worked up about. Marijuana gets a bad rap. It’s no more harmless than a cup of tea.

The reason it’s illegal is politics. It’s not for the safety of the public, it’s all politics.

    It’s sad.

  2. I agree with Otto Mann.
There is a lot of good that can come out of marijuana being legal and not something that people kill for!

  3. I think the kid is just going about his life just fine and should be left alone. I think he has a right to do whatever he wants as long as he does not hurt others in the process.

  4. The only bad thing is that he is a role model for a lot of kids. Now they will be confused about this subject. He should have considered his public image.

  5. While I do think he messed up, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. He apologized, took the heat and accepted responsibility. What more can he do? If every “role” model was outed for bad behavior, there are far worse culprits that this. He’s young, he’ll learn. I personally don’t think pot should be illegal. I’d much sooner see someone a little high that a slobbering drunk who can’t even walk.

  6. Joy, your last statement is so true! What a good way to look at it. I think that as a “role” model, he did the right think and apologized. We all learn from our mistakes. Next time, he needs to be more discreet! Ha Ha

  7. Kelly, I do think he is concerned about his public image. He did apologize. He has a long road ahead of him. I am sure he will be more careful.

  8. Otto Mann, you bring up an interesting position on this. It is political, for sure. Times are changing. Let’s see what will happen on this topic! Bruce and Robert, you both leave interesting points, too! Thanks to all for their comments on this subject.

  9. I think he certainly made a mistake but he is human just like the rest of us. I think sometimes we forget that “stars” are just like us and certainly make mistakes just like everyone else. He didn’t try to talk his way out of it, deny it or anything and he publically apologized for his actions and assured his fans it would never happen again. You have to respect that so I don’t think a big deal should be made out of it.

  10. I am with you, Gary. I figure him to be one whose actions will follow his words. I wish him the best! He’s a good person.

  11. Marijuana is very bad. If the person who says it’s ‘IT’S NO MORE HARMLESS (sic) THAN A CUP OF TEA’ can back that up, then do it. Otherwise, Dr. Amen, a Neurologist with over 20 years experience in brain disorders can show you brain scans of marijuana users. The damage it causes – is not pretty.

  12. Thank you Matt for the referral to Dr. Amen’s work! I will be very interested to see what he has to report!

  13. I apologize, Mr. Mahoney for my grammatical faux pas! I was not aware I was being judge on my grasp of teh Engrish language.

I can assure you that someone who smokes ANYTHING heavily for several decades will show some kind of damage to their body. I don’t think ANYONE will debate that.

Too much of a good thing is a bad thing.

That being said, I will challenge YOU good sir, to back up the claim that occasional use of cannabis through the use of a water bong (as Mr. Phelps was using) causes ANY sort of damage whatsoever. The truth of the matter is smoking a couple bong hits a month for the rest of your life will not cause any damage at all!

And that’s the TRUTH! Good DAY sir!!

  14. No big deal! Marijuana is OK in my book. It has many good benefits. People need all the advantages they can get!
