I love this! Freedom! It is the greatest thing to have! It is the worst thing to lose! I never take my freedom for granted. I see, on a daily basis, the horror and anguish of people all over the world who lose theirs! I can only imagine the pain they must be going through. It makes me wonder if those of us who are free, really appreciate and understand its meaning, So, I just thought I’d ask you this question:
What does freedom mean to you?

I am challenging your use of the word “freedom”. If you live in the United States you have very little “freedom”, but you probably “believe” you have freedom because you don’t know any better!
I was raised years ago to believe America was the home of the free. I also bought into the idea that although America had its share of problems, you would not be free in the “other” countries.
I have lived in the Caribbean for about eight years now. I have found a new concept of being free. Free from a police state. Free from an overabundance of laws, taxes, inhumane corporations without faces, and a bureaucracy that is totally disconnected from my needs. I have found a way of living which says if you are not bothering others, you can do as you please.
I have found freedom from excessive taxation, freedom of health care when and where needed, at no cost to me, freedom to build a home without mountains of paper work, freedom to live a truly wonderful life!
Thank God I had the opportunity to find out about freedom in this life time. I hope some of you who are in bondage in the United States can find the courage to leave and find real freedom for yourselves.
Mokenman
Wow, you are a very insightful person. I appreciate your comments. I agree. The United States is “behind” in a lot of areas when it comes to dealing with “all” people the “same” way. That is why I do what I can when I can for who I can, to try and balance out my section of the world! Thank you so much for your comments. I wish you the best year ever! If you can, stop by again, I love your vision!
I figure I take what life throws me here in the USA because I would rather not move out!
Freedom to us means we have the choices here in the USA that we maybe would not have other places in the world, though, I may be wrong!
People who have not suffered the evils of those in centuries before us, do not really understand freedom today. I feel blessed to live in the United States, and I would never go back to my country of origin!
I have also lived in another country and wouldn’t ever live anywhere but the USA again. My dad is from Canada and I lived there for a short time and we have it really good here. I hate to say it but I don’t agree with Mokenman in any way shape or form. Don’t even get me started on “free health” care. I have seen to many of my relatives “wait in line” for things we just take for granted.
Freedom to me means I can do what I want, when I want. Providing I’m not breaking any laws.
I hear you, Joy. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else, either!
To each his own but I wouldn’t want to live anywhere but here in the good old US of A.
I have traveled ALL over the US and also to a few other countries. I had a good time visiting other countries but wouldn’t want to live there. I have been to two countries in the caribbean and had a nice time but certainly would NOT want to live there.
