Weekend fun………

Some ministers were talking about death and dying over coffee at the local cafe. “What would you want people to say about you at your funeral?” one of them asked.

“I’d want people to say, ‘He was a great and compassionate humanitarian who cared about those in need,” responded a recently retired minister.

“I’d like for people to say, ‘He was a good father and husband, a man whose life was a fine example for others to follow,” intoned another.

“Oh, I’d like for people to remember me for my fine sermons and church growth,” said the newest member of the group.

A grizzled old farmer leaned over from the next table and said, “That’s all well and good, fellas, but I’d rather hear ‘em say ‘Look, he’s moving!’”

Just staying calm…..

I decided to stay calm and not get stressed out with shopping for gifts. I am having fun just taking my time and looking around. I am not really buying much…yet. I did get a bunch of baskets and cookie tins at Costco. I love having them around to give to my company during the holidays. I also loaded up on coffee and tea. I love the smell of coffee brewing! My dining room is all light up and my Christmas tree is looking good. I love to have the lights on. I can’t wait for it to get dark out! I am really doing my best to ignore people who seem to want to put a damper on things. I always look for the positive in the situation. I am not getting caught up in the anger and hatred some people like to show this time of year. I think I will hang out with those that really appreciate life and the meaning of Christmas. I LOVE Christmas. I LOVE having people over and seeing them laugh and smile. That is the best present they can give me. I hope you all do your best to see the nice side of people. Try to ignore the other side, especially around the holidays. Oh well, just thinking out loud. Thanks for visiting. Have many smiles this week.

RETIRED HEALTH MESSAGE

As I was lying in bed pondering the problems of the world, I rapidly realized that I don’t really give a rat’s hiney. It’s the tortoise life for me!
1.. If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal.
2.. A whale swims all day, only eats fish, drinks water, and is fat.
3.. A rabbit runs and hops and only lives 15 years.
4.. A tortoise doesn’t run and does nothing, yet it lives for 450 years.
And you tell me to exercise?? I don’t think so.

I’m retired. Go around me.

God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now that I’m older here’s what I’ve discovered:
1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and all-bran.

3. I finally got my head together, and now my body is falling apart.

4. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.

5. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.

6. If all is not lost, where is it?

7. It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.

8. Some days, you’re the dog; some days you’re the hydrant.

9. I wish the buck stopped here; I sure could use a few.

10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.

11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.

12. It’s hard to make a comeback when you haven’t been anywhere.

13. The only time the world beats a path to your door is when you’re in the bathroom.

14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he’d have put them on my knees.

15. When I’m finally holding all the cards, why does everyone want to play chess?

16. Its not hard to meet expenses . . . they’re everywhere.

17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter . . .I go somewhere to get something, and then wonder what I’m hereafter

19. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.

20. DID I SEND THESE TO YOU BEFORE……….??????

Have a fun week! Be sure to laugh and smile often.

Memorial Day… a poem I wrote

This is a poem I wrote last year. I hope you do not mind I posted it again. I want to thank all of you who fight for your country. Without you, there would be no country.

He was a very enthusiastic lad.
Who wanted, so much, to please his dad
He stood for bravery, honor, and pride
But, while doing so..unfortunately died

He left behind the symbol of hope
So while pursuing our dreams, we could cope
He gave us the courage to go on
Even though, from this world he is gone.

Freedom lives because of you
True Americans will NEVER forget all you knew
Fighting for your country was a dedication you accepted with all your heart
I only hope we will be as worthy to do our part.

So, when you look down upon us from above
I hope you can feel all of our love
I hope all Americans feel your pride
I hope they decide to join the right side.

Thank You to ALL who fought for us all.

Distraction…. a POEM*

So I am thinking about the world

Wondering how everyone can get feed EVERY day

I am sad that so many are not well

I am wondering how I can help

I wish I had unlimited funds available

I would divide them all fairly

I would make sure everyone had a place to live

That everyone could feel the embrace of LOVE

As I get deeper into my thoughts

I begin to notice a weight on my shoulders

I am gravitated to my chair

To reflect on the world as it is

The more I reflect

The more I realize that I am only one

I realize that the world needs to unite

The world needs to be reading the same book

So now what I am doing is packing up my RV

I need a distraction

I need to see the BEAUTY of the world

I need to remain balanced

so I can do my part

I’M SICK OF IT…..a series of thoughts/questions I have …..4/27/12

Is it really so hard for you to pay people a compliment when they deserve it?

I am talking about those of you out there who never seem to get the message that other people love compliments, just like you do! It seems that many people have issues with their self-esteem and seem to think that they should feed off the emotions of others, yet show them no emotions. I believe that some people, regardless of the reason…seem to always want to have the attention. If someone else happens to get some, what an ugly look they make on their faces. You all know who I am talking about. There is always one in the bunch. I believe we all need to get a boost when it comes to self-esteem issues. I always give a nice compliment when someone deserves the praise. I feel that the positive energy it generates is good for all in this world. A smile on ones face is so precious to me. So, give it a try. Notice things happening around you. Notice the faces of others. When you can make others smile, why wouldn’t you? I guarantee you will smile as well. Give it a try, OK? Meanwhile, have a fantastic life. Live and experience it with a smile.

I’M SICK OF IT…..a series of thoughts/questions I have …..4/18/12

Why are there some people in life who expect to be served on a silver platter all the time when they should just lighten up and eat at a fast food place like the rest of us do?

You all know who I am referring too, right? There is always at least one in the bunch who feel that this life is meant to be a place where THEY get served, forget the rest. I know you all know someone like this. They are people who feel they are the only ones around who deserve the best in this life. They feel if anyone should have it, it should be them. They would never buy a coffee from a local fast food place, it has to be a speciality coffee shop, right? I have to admit that sometimes I do treat myself to special times when I go out. It does not mean I think I am anymore special than anyone else, it just means that, for me…mentally…I need a break! So, I do spoil myself then. That, in my opinion is fine. I just wish that those of us who can afford more things in life than others just do not brag about it. They should be able to talk about things, just do not be so arrogant. That’s all for now. I just wonder if I am the only one out there who thinks this way. What is your opinion?

This SONG gets me moving at the gym..check out this VIDEO from 1979!

I find it hard to believe that this video is from 1979. I mean, check out the clothes. Look at those shades! The guitar playing is awesome. They do not make music like this anymore, in my opinion. I really think that this song ROCKS. The lyrics are strange, but they seem to work. What is your opinion?

Have fun moving and dancing.

Back from Texas……..

Well, I have returned. I have mixed feelings about Texas. The people there are ALL really nice. They are very helpful and polite. They really seem to care about what you are asking about. I was impressed. They are not all walking around with cowboy hats and boots on. They look just like everyone else anywhere in the states. I was kind of wanting to see some cowboys. Oh well. :(

Now the highways are another story. I was going crazy, and so was our GPS. I think it is easier to drive around LA! There is so much open road in Texas. I guess I am just set with the way around town here. I would get around Texas, after a while. Costco from my sons house is about 40 minutes away. I would go crazy with that! I would have to be close to all the stores I am familiar with. I guess I am getting old!:(

My son seems very happy. He got his place all set up. It looks pretty good for a studio apartment. He takes about 200 steps, and he is at work. No traffic. No excuse for being late. No stress from long commutes. He is fitting in nicely. I am very happy to have had the chance to go see where he is. His complex is very nice and all of the managers are friendly. They bake fresh cookies EVERY morning! They gave a wonderful coffee machine. I went there EVERY morning because my son does not do coffee. :(

I am glad to be back in CA and crazy LA. I love this place. I did miss it a lot. When I landed at LAX, I smiled big time.

Hope you are all well. I will be by as soon as I catch up.
